DL-Chloramphenicol powder USP BP CAS 2787-09-9, also known as synthomycin or sintomycin. Bitter taste. Melting point: 148-151 ℃. No rotation. Easily soluble in ethanol, acetone or ethyl acetate, but insoluble in water. The antibacterial spectrum, action, and use are all the same as chloramphenicol. Because it is a racemic mixture, the antibacterial effect is half that of chloramphenicol, and the dosage is large.
